Sarah Ann Fenwick, 72, died July 18, 2015, at her home, Hutchinson. She was born Dec. 25, 1942, in Isabella, Okla., the daughter of Elmer and Dorothy Chesley Kehn. She graduated from Fairview High School. A resident of Hutchinson, formerly of Sterling, she was a homemaker.

She belonged to New Hope Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Dorothy Kehn, a brother, Marvin Kehn, and a son, Allen Fenwick.

NICKERSON – Carrol E. Crawford, 82, died Jan. 3, 2016, at Sterling Presbyterian Manor, Sterling. He was born April 29, 1933, in Cameron, Okla., the son of Rolla and Zora (Wilkes) Crawford. A resident of Nickerson since 1982, moving from Sterling, he retired from Carey Salt as a supervisor after 38 years. He also worked for the United States Postal Service for 13 years, as a rural mail carrier in Sterling.

He was a member of Sterling Country Club, Sterling. He served in the United States Navy from 1950 to 1954.

On Feb. 4, 1993, he married Dorothy Jean (Pickett)Payne Evans in Sterling. She survives. Other survivors include: daughter, Barbara Scheuler and husband, Tony, Hutchinson; son, Curtis and wife, Roberta, Wichita; stepson, Kenneth Payne and wife, Deborah, Sterling; stepdaughter, Donna Henry of Texas; brother, John and wife, Sandy, Chase; two grandchildren, Megan and Jamie Crawford; five step-grandchildren, Brandy, Shauna, and Kendrah Payne, and Joshua and Jacob Morrison; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Richard, Bill, Rolla Jr. and Jim; and two sisters, Graceva and Wanda Trembly.

Funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 7, 2016, at Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling, with Pastor Michael Gray presiding. Burial will be in Sterling Community Cemetery, with military honors by the Navy Honor Guard. Memorials to the Sterling Country Club, in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling.

Dorothy Jean Crawford, 77, of Nickerson, passed away September 16, 2018 at her home in Nickerson. She was born February 13, 1941 in Holdenville, Oklahoma, the daughter of C.F. and Virgie Virginia Maroon Pickett. She attended Moss High School in Moss Oklahoma. Dorothy has resided in Nickerson since 1993, formerly of Sterling, Kansas. She was a convenient store manager and waitress at various restaurants. On February 5, 1993, Dorothy was united in marriage with Caroll Crawford in Sterling, Kansas. He preceded her in death on January 16, 2016. She is also preceded in death by her parents; 2nd husband, Gene Evans Sr.; and nine siblings. She is survived by her son, Kenneth Payne and wife Deborah of Sterling; daughter, Donna Henry and significant other Joel Kerley of West Columbia, TX; three step-sons, Curtis Crawford and wife Bert of Wichita, KS, Charles Fayne Evans and wife Lori of Las Vegas, NV, and Gene Michael Evans Jr. of Chino, CA; step-daughter, Barbara Schuler and husband Tony of Hutchinson; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. On Nov. 27, 1976, she married Anthony ‘Tony’ Ray Colle in Hutchinson. STERLING – Marion Gene “Berb” Berblinger, 81, passed away Aug. 2, 2014, at Sterling Presbyterian Manor. He was born March 7, 1933, in rural Ellinwood to Fredrick and Lena Peter Berblinger.

Berb was a 1951 graduate of Alden High School, where he was a three-sport letter winner. He attended Fort Hays State University before transferring to Sterling College where he played football and graduated in 1955, with a degree in Physical Education.

On April 15, 1955, he married Florene “Flo” Reynolds at Sterling. She survives. The couple have three children, daughters, Pam (Dr. Ron) Stevens of Newton, Sara (Steve) Rivas of Sterling, and son, Mike (Sarah) Berblinger of Buhler. There are nine grandchildren, Tyler (Ericia) Stevens and Lauren Stevens, of Newton, Caroline, Luke and Maren Berblinger of Buhler, Hayley (Jesse) Howard of Carthage, Texas, Lindsey, and Rachel and Klint Carter of Sterling; great-grandson, Landyn Stevens of Newton, and two more on the way; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was an avid outdoorsman, loving to golf, fish, and hunt. He was the best husband, father and “Papa,” and was deeply devoted to the young people of Sterling.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Fredrick “Cotton,” Jack and Donald, and sisters, Lorene Eccleston and Carolyn Harrison.

Rex Allen Wyatt was born July 3, 1954 in Sterling, Kansas.  He died on January 23, 2015 in California.  He is survived by his parents, Dick and Annie Wyatt of Wichita, Kansas. Immediate survivors are sons, Jeffrey Wyatt of Concord, California and Joshua Wyatt and wife, Micaiah, of Lakeville, Minnesota and 4 Grandchildren.  He has on brother, Ray and wife, Joan, and 2 nephews, Tate and Tanner Wyatt.
Rex attended schools in Sterling and graduated from Sterling High School in 1972.  He enlisted in the Navy that summer and spent 4 years in the Vietnam War aboard the ship Coral Sea.
In high school Rex was very active in the sports activities of the school, playing and lettering in football and basketball in his Sophomore, Junior and Senior years.  He was also active in the music department singing many solos and receiving high honors at contests.  He was active in Boy Scouts.
After his discharge from the Navy, he remained in California and worked at Safeway.  He will be remembered and missed by his family and many friends.

Rev. Donald H. Calderwood died on January 16, 2015, in Wichita, KS at the age of 83. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; sons, Douglas, Brian and Timothy, and their spouses; siblings, Lois Sieverling, Frances Calderwood and William Calderwood. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert O. and Nelle (Lindsay) Calderwood; brother Robert and infant brother Alvin. Don and Evelyn have 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Don was born on March 5, 1931, in Sterling, KS. He graduated from Sterling College in 1953 with a degree in Chemistry. He graduated from Pittsburgh-Xenia Theological Seminary in 1956 with a Master of Divinity degree. He was ordained in the United Presbyterian Church (now PCUSA) in 1956. He also earned a Masters in Educational Counseling.

In 1956 he married Evelyn Campbell. That fall, they left to serve as missionaries to Pakistan where they worked for 34 years. They were founding and long-term staff members of Murree Christian School where they served in many capacities. After returning to the United States in 1989, Rev. Calderwood served four Presbyterian churches in Kansas and Missouri as interim minister.

Don volunteered for Habitat for Humanity and was a member of the Retired Business and Professional Mens’ Club. He enjoyed playing golf with his many friends.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 24 at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 2258 Marigold, Wichita, KS 67204. Rev. Art Smith will officiate the ceremony. CARLENE HUTCHESON,  74, of Topeka, KS  went to be with her Lord on January 10, 2014, after a yearlong struggle with various health issues.

She was born on January 25, 1940, in Topeka, KS, to Rev. Thomas and Marjorie Hutcheson of Denison, KS. In 1949, her family moved to the island of Cyprus, where her parents were missionary teachers.

Following her childhood in Cyprus, Carlene graduated from Washburn Rural High School in Topeka, KS, in 1957, and was a 1961 graduate of Geneva College.

Carlene dedicated her career to educating children. She worked as an elementary school teacher in Park City, KS, and in Topeka, KS. Upon her retirement in 2000, Carlene continued to be active in various retired teachers’ organizations, the Topeka Reformed Presbyterian Church, and Meals on Wheels.

Carlene was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Elizabeth Hutcheson. She is survived by her brother Tom Hutcheson and wife Sue; niece Christi Hutcheson; niece Karen Montemayor and husband Jim; nephew Jim Hutcheson; grandniece Rachel Montemayor; and grandnephews Luke and Nate Montemayor. Her godly spirit, thoughtfulness, and generosity will be missed by her many relatives and friends.
