Sterling – Mariam E. “Bonnie” Dysart, 85, died March 4, 2002, at Sterling Presbyterian Manor.

She was born May 11, 1916, at Oklahoma City, Okla., the daughter of Mary Breaker and J. D. Bonenberger. A Sterling resident since 1941, she was a homemaker and civic worker.

She belonged to PEO and was past president of the Rice County Arts Council and the Sterling Sorosis Club.

On Sept. 11, 1936, she married Jack C. Dysart at Oklahoma City, Okla. He died June 15, 1998.

Survivors include: a son, a daughter, six grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.

Graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. April 27, 2002, in Sterling Cemetery Chapel, Sterling. Burial will be in Sterling Community Cemetery.

Memorials may be sent to the Sterling Public Library or the PEO Memorial Fund, in care of Sillin Funeral Home, Sterling.

Charles D. “Chuck” Butts, 58, died December 3, 2011, in Lyons. He was born February 14, 1953, in Topeka, the son of Donald and Joan Powers Butts. He was a Lyons resident since 1971, formerly of Sterling. He was a retired paramedic for Rice County EMS, after 29 years of service. He received his Paramedic Degree at Hutchinson Community College; was attending Barton County Community College and was one semester short from receiving his degree in Web Design. He was a member of Alpha Sigma Lambda, Smoky Hill Rabbit Club, Kansas State Rabbit Breeders Club, American Rabbit Breeders Club, and American Netherland Dwarf Rabbit Club.On July 22, 2002, he married Amanda Jesseph in Sterling. Survivors include: his wife; Amanda of the home; a son, James Butts, Wichita; daughters, Jennifer Leann Butts, Jacqueline and Chris Norez, Jamie and Kenny Ash, all of Lyons; his mother, Joan Butts, Emporia; his father and step-mother; Donald and Evelyn Butts, Hutchinson; a brother, Allen and Donna Butts, Puyallup, Washington; a sister, Elaine and Rick Boese, Marysville, and four grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Quinten and Inez Powers and Clark and Desdamona Butts; uncle and aunt, Edward and Chris Powers, and uncles; Wilbur Proffitt and Wayne Proffitt.Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 7, 2011, at United Methodist Church, Lyons, with Rev. Beverly Bourgain, 69, died Feb. 14, 1931, at her home in Sterling.  She was born Nov. 3, 1931, in Seminole, Okla., the daughter of Walter and Sylvia Pullen Ashley.

A resident of Sterling since 1952, she was an elementary school teacher and a bus driver for 23 years for Sterling USD 376.  She was a member of the United Methodist Church, P.E.O., past chairwoman of the Sterling Public Library Board and past president of the Sorosis Club, all of Sterling.

On May 2, 1953, she married Jerry Bourgain in Wichita. He survives. Other survivors include a son Jon, Littleton, Colo.; two daughters, Susan Bourgain, Houston, and Melissa Herduin, Spring Hill; two brothers, Car and Larry Ashley, both of Wichita, two sisters, Janice Darling, Alden, and Karen Veach, Las Cruces, N.J.; and two grandchildren.

Services are at 2 p.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church, Sterling, with the Rev. James Graves presiding. Burial will be in Sterling Community Cemetery.Birth: Nov. 3, 1931  Death: Feb. 14, 2001

He was the retired owner of a general building contracting and cabinet-making business.  On Nov2, 1942 he married Betty Jane Whittenberger. at San Fernando Mission, Calif.          He had three sons with Elizabeth Jane Whittenberger. He died on May 20, 2000, in Camino, California, at the age of 78, and was buried in Sterling, Kansas.

Thomas Edwin Cundith enlisted in the Army on December 23, 1940, in Sterling, Kansas, during World War II. He was 19 years old.

Thomas Edwin Cundith lived in Placerville, California, in 1970.
