H. A. Dymond, who has been a patient sufferer for months, is at rest. Death entered the home last Friday evening, November 24, 1933.Funeral services were held from the M. E. church, Sunday, November 26, at 2:30, conducted by Dr. A. E. Kirk, pastor, and Rev. A. N. Smith, a former pastor here and now of Lyons. The services at the grave were in charge of the Masonic lodge. The following obituary was read during the funeral services : Last Friday evening as the twilight and dusk was beginning to silhouette tall cottonwoods overhanging a quiet country home, the Grim Reaper passed over and took another of Sterling’s most beloved men to his eternity–a man who perhaps had nursed those mighty trees and watched them grow from saplings amid the rolling prairies. No doubt he loved them ver much, after having been with them for forty years, and realized and respected their worth.This same man loved his family so sincerely. In the year he was confined to his bed he showed great respect and admiration for those about him; if he had complaints he just let them pass. The noise of children, their loud voices and laughter even when he was very very weak, seemed to comfort him. He loved children very much, always placing great confidence in youth and in their ambitions and desires. Harry (Uncle Harry, as he was called by so many) was a man of excellent judgment, especially in economical and agricultural things. He knew good stock and appreciated their worth. He seemed to always love being around his stock, whether it be the chickens or the cattle. He seemed to love everything and enjoyed living each moment whether at work or at play. He was a member of the Blue Lodge, Chapter, Commandry, Shrine and Eastern Star. Here, too, he got so much out of his membership and always attended regularly when possible. Harry Arthur Dymond was born December 13, 1869, at Bellvue, Ohio, and died at Sterling, Kansas, November 24, 1933, at the age of 63 years, 11 months and 11 days. He was the oldest son of James and Bertha Dymond, who had come over from Devonshire, England together. With his parents he moved to Sterling in April, 1878, and settled on a farm four miles north and three and one half miles east of Sterling. On December 16, 1891, he was married to Minnie L. Gibson and they started their married lives together at the same farm house where he died.Mr. Dymond leaves his devoted wife and a son Earl J., who so deeply mourn his passing; his sister, Mrs. Luetta Peters; a brother Zeno; a daughter-in-law, Lucetta; two granddaughters, Wilma and Norma Mae; a cousin, Ernest Dymond, all of Sterling; a niece, Lucille Wilson, living in Texas, and other relatives in the east, and a large host of friends, loyal friends, respectful neighbors and sincere Masonic brothers.The pall bearers were C. Sterling – Mariam E. “Bonnie” Dysart, 85, died March 4, 2002, at Sterling Presbyterian Manor.
She was born May 11, 1916, at Oklahoma City, Okla., the daughter of Mary Breaker and J. D. Bonenberger. A Sterling resident since 1941, she was a homemaker and civic worker.
She belonged to PEO and was past president of the Rice County Arts Council and the Sterling Sorosis Club.
On Sept. 11, 1936, she married Jack C. Dysart at Oklahoma City, Okla. He died June 15, 1998.
Survivors include: a son, a daughter, six grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
Graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. April 27, 2002, in Sterling Cemetery Chapel, Sterling. Burial will be in Sterling Community Cemetery.
Memorials may be sent to the Sterling Public Library or the PEO Memorial Fund, in care of Sillin Funeral Home, Sterling.

 Charles D. “Chuck” Butts, 58, died December 3, 2011, in Lyons. He was born February 14, 1953, in Topeka, the son of Donald and Joan Powers Butts. He was a Lyons resident since 1971, formerly of Sterling. He was a retired paramedic for Rice County EMS, after 29 years of service. He received his Paramedic Degree at Hutchinson Community College; was attending Barton County Community College and was one semester short from receiving his degree in Web Design. He was a member of Alpha Sigma Lambda, Smoky Hill Rabbit Club, Kansas State Rabbit Breeders Club, American Rabbit Breeders Club, and American Netherland Dwarf Rabbit Club.On July 22, 2002, he married Amanda Jesseph in Sterling. Survivors include: his wife; Amanda of the home; a son, James Butts, Wichita; daughters, Jennifer Leann Butts, Jacqueline and Chris Norez, Jamie and Kenny Ash, all of Lyons; his mother, Joan Butts, Emporia; his father and step-mother; Donald and Evelyn Butts, Hutchinson; a brother, Allen and Donna Butts, Puyallup, Washington; a sister, Elaine and Rick Boese, Marysville, and four grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Quinten and Inez Powers and Clark and Desdamona Butts; uncle and aunt, Edward and Chris Powers, and uncles; Wilbur Proffitt and Wayne Proffitt.Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 7, 2011, at United Methodist Church, Lyons, with Rev. Dr. Quentin Bennett officiating. Beverly Bourgain, 69, died Feb. 14, 1931, at her home in Sterling. She was born Nov. 3, 1931, in Seminole, Okla., the daughter of Walter and Sylvia Pullen Ashley.
A resident of Sterling since 1952, she was an elementary school teacher and a bus driver for 23 years for Sterling USD 376. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, P.E.O., past chairwoman of the Sterling Public Library Board and past president of the Sorosis Club, all of Sterling.
On May 2, 1953, she married Jerry Bourgain in Wichita. He survives. Other survivors include a son Jon, Littleton, Colo.; two daughters, Susan Bourgain, Houston, and Melissa Herduin, Spring Hill; two brothers, Car and Larry Ashley, both of Wichita, two sisters, Janice Darling, Alden, and Karen Veach, Las Cruces, N.J.; and two grandchildren.
Services are at 2 p.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church, Sterling, with the Rev. James Graves presiding. Burial will be in Sterling Community Cemetery.Birth: Nov. 3, 1931 Death: Feb. 14, 2001
