Lengthy obituary STERLING BULLETIN , 9/10/1909
Samuel Stubbs Dix anonymously wrote a weekly column in the Sterling Bulletin, under the heading “Peek-A-Boo.” The column reported things seen on the streets of Sterling that if you were the subject of the embarrassing event, you would wish no one had seen! It was a very popular column, probably the first thing read in the paper each week. No one knew who ‘Peek-A-Boo’ was until the column no longer appeared after Samuel Dix’s death.
Samuel was a Quaker, a teacher, a postmaster, a carpenter, and a newspaper man.
