Sterling- Burnedine B. Moore, 67, died April 30, 2005, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. She was born May 31, 1937, in Woodward, Okla., the daughter of Guy Albert and Ada Rosalee Trim Nixon. A longtime resident of Sterling, moving from Lyons, she was a homemaker.
On June 4, 1956, she married Jim Moore at Wellington. He survives. Other survivors include a son Stanley Eldridge, Topeka, a daughter, Norma Simmons, Sterling; a sister, Neva Lee Mikel, El Dorado, and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, John LeRoy Moore, and a brother, Gerald Dean Nixon. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Sterling Community Cemetery, Sterling, with Jerry Fenwick presiding. Memorials may be sent to the Nathan Jones Education Fund, in care of Sillin Funeral Home, Sterling.

Only child of Dr. Roy N. Moxley and Grace Ann Stackhouse. His mother, a former teacher at Dickinson County High School, died when Max was only 8 days old so was raised by his father’s sister, Maude Halbert, in Chapman. In 1940 Max married Sarah Charlene “Icee” Schiveley (Feb. 10, 1912-May 9, 2000) d/o Charles C. Schiveley (1876-1968) native of Connelsville, PA and Lena Lovell (1882-1961) native of Niles, MI. With Max’s death, the Moxley surname has disappeared. He was the last surviving male to carry the surname descending from his great grandfather – Samuel Moxley (1800- 1878) – native of VA, resident of Ontario in Canada and Fayette County in PA and who moved to Shelbina, MO in 1867 and died there.The obit below is informative. Mary L’Homadieu Latham was born in Rising Sun, Indiana, February 19, 1839 and died in Sterling Kansas March 20, 1907. Her early years were spent in Rising Sun, where she graduated from Seminary and entered her teaching career.
She taught for 27 years in Ohio and Switzerland Counties, Indiana, 2 years in Boone County, Kentucky and 12 years in Sterling-a record of 41 years in the school room. Her life was lived for others and she seemed to find her greatest happiness in so doing.
Five sisters survive her -Harriet and Lottie Latham, and Mrs. Ella Grandy of Sterling; Mrs. W. H. Wallick of Edgewater, Colo and Mrs. R. R. Taggart of Osiris, Okla. Funeral services were held at the home on the 22d, conducted by Rev. C. G. Miller of the Congregational Church and were largely attended by friends of the deceased.
