Elijah was the husband of Margaret Geneva “Dot” (Baker) Morrison (1852-1926). He was the son of William P. Morrison and Suzannah (Tulles) Morrison and father of eight children including Charles, Susanna, Minnie, Cora, Lula, Lottie, and Albert Morrison. Elijah was a Veteran of the Union Army in the Civil War. He enlisted at age 19 on September 3, 1863, in Co. H, 8th Iowa Cavalry Volunteers. He was taken prisoner by the Confederate Army on July 30, 1864, at Newnan, Georgia and sent to Andersonville Prison. Elijah survived Andersonville and was mustered out on May 31, 1865, at Davenport, Iowa. Elijah R. Morrison is sometimes confused with his uncle, Elijah A. Morrison (1812-1896) who is buried in Wayne County, Iowa and who was a Veteran of the Missouri State Militia Cavalry.Family links: Parents: Suzannah Tullis Morrison (1821 – 1882) Spouse: Sibling: *Calculated relationship |
