M. STEARMAN
Marion Stearman was born April 17, 1829 in Fleming Co., Ky., but came at an early age with the family to Illinois where he grew to manhood. He enlisted in Company A., 75th Illinois. Vol. Inf. and was three years in the service of his country. He married Sarah J. Cooper March 16, 1868, and thirty-four years ago came with his family to a farm near Geneseo, Kan. Four years ago he moved to Sterling where he died suddenly in a . . . part of town the morning of March 7, 1908. He leaves a wife, two sons, four daughter, besides other relatives and sympathizing friends and neighbors. The funeral was held Tuesday at the home conducted by Elder Bruce of the Christian church and the G. A. R.

Michael Jo Staton, Enid, OK died Friday, March 1, 1991, at St. Francis Regional Medical Center, Wichita, at the age of 30.
He was born Sept. 27, 1960, at Coffeyville, the son of Jack Edward and Joan Defenbaugh Staton. He graduated from Nickerson High School, attended Hutchinson Community College and graduated from Sidney’s Hairdressing College. A resident of Enid, OK since 1986, moving from South Hutchinson, he was a visual display manager for Dillard’s, Enid.
Survivors include his mother, South Hutchinson; a brother, Patrick B, Sterling.
Graveside services were held Tuesday afternoon in the Sterling Community Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to the HIV Research Center, Wichita, in care of Johnson and Sons Funeral Home, Hutchinson.

From the Huntsville News, July 16, 1897: Mr. Stark, living two miles west of Nickerson, died last Thursday, and was interred in Nickerson cemetery Friday afternoon. He was a son-in-law of J. N. Hinshaw, living near Sterling. He left a wife and two children.Family links:

Mrs. Blaine was the daughter of the late Rev. W.L. Hinshaw, pioneer Sterling minister. Born in Indiana, she came to Kansas at the age of two. After the death of her first husband, J.N. Stark, she married Jess Blaine in 1910. Since Mr. Blaine’s death two years ago, she has been making her home in Los Angeles and with her daughter, Mrs. Ruth Stark Johnson, 515 Ave. B. east.
Mrs. Blaine is survived by two other children, Mrs. Matilda E. Bluser, Los Angeles, and David L. Stark, Hot Springs, Ark.; two sisters, Mr. A.M. McKee and Mrs. C.A. Stone, Sterling; four brothers, J.H. Hinshaw, Hutchinson, D.J. Hinshaw, Yuma, Ariz., Dr. J. D. Hinshaw, Canon City, Col., and A.R. Hinshaw, Holliday; and six grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Rosa Blaine, who was killed Sunday in an accident near Belpre, will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock from the Methodist church at Sterling. Burial will be in the Sterling cemetery.
