Nina Taber was born on November 15, 1878, in Sterling, Kansas, the child of Samuel Smith and Nannie. She lost her mother when she was about 10 days old.
Samuel Smith Taber was born on October 28, 1852, in Jericho, New York, his father, Clarkson, was 30 and his mother, Deborah, was 28. He married Nannie Hackett and they had one daughter together. He then married Maria Willis Taber and they had six children together. He had two brothers and three sisters.

Daughter of Harrison and Hannah (Shawver) Kline. She died at the home of her son Calvin L. Swartz. Husband William M. Swartz divorced her after he relocated in Sterling, Kansas. William Swartz married Margaret Jane “Jennie” Kline on June 23, 1884, in Sandusky Co., OH. He moved to Sterling, Kansas where his brother Henry and sister Sarah (Swartz) Nearhood were living. Jennie refused to leave Ohio.
Son of Samuel Swartz, who was born 1 AUG 1831 in Beaver Township (Troxelville), Union Co. (now Synder Co.), Pennsylvania, and died 2 OCT 1909 in Sandusky Co., Ohio. Samuel Swartz married Jemima Hare May 4, 1852, in Snyder Co., PA. She was born 29 DEC 1832 in Pennsylvania and died 25 FEB 1892 in Sandusky Co., Ohio. They were buried in York Chapel Cemetery, Sandusky Co., Ohio.
William Swartz married Margaret Jane “Jennie” Kline on June 23, 1884, in Sandusky Co., OH. He moved to Sterling, Kansas where his brother Henry and sister Sarah (Swartz) Nearhood were living. Jennie refused to leave Ohio.
William later married Jessie Lenora Horton in Rice County, Kansas.
