STERLING – Judith H. “Judy” Fulton, 71, died Nov. 22, 2015, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born July 24, 1944, in Sterling, the daughter of John and Eula Edwards Cundith.

On Aug. 24, 1991, Judy married Robert E. Fulton Sr. at Kanopolis Lake. Robert died Aug. 11, 2010. Survivors include: two daughters, Stacy and Tom True of Sterling, and Kristy and Troy Flickinger of Nickerson; brother, John and Carolyn Cundith of Broken Arrow, Okla.; five sisters, Joyce Deegan of Tehachapi, Calif., Anna Mae Alexander of Altus, Okla., Flora and Bill Pearson of Moss Point, Miss., Betty and Tyson Wilson of Carpinteria, Calif., Barbara and Rod Engelland of Shawnee; five grandchildren, Jordyn and Justin Carter, Bryce True, DaKoda and Jake Fiehler, Brityn Flickinger, all of Sterling, and Daltyn Flickinger of Nickerson; six great-grandchildren, Chace Carter, Shade Carter, Haylen Carter, Trip Fiehler, Vann Fiehler, and Adeline Fiehler. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert E. Fulton Sr.; brothers, Tom, Harry, Horace, Richard and Robert Cundith; great-grandchild, Pyper Kristine Fiehler; sister-in-law, Karen Cundith; and brothers-in-law, Dick Deegan, and Junior Alexander.

Graveside Service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2015, at the Sterling Community Cemetery, Sterling, with Reverend Kendal Connor officiating. Memorials may be made to the Judith H. Fulton Memorial Fund, in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling.

STERLING – Robert Leo Flickinger, 88, died May 31, 2015, at Elm Grove Estates, Hutchinson. He was born June 9, 1926, in rural Reno County, the son of Joseph W. and Alma Stuckey Flickinger. He graduated from Sterling High School with the class of 1944. A longtime resident of rural Sterling, he was a retired farmer.

On July 24, 1949, he married Mary Ella Fulkerson in Sterling. She survives. Other survivors include two sons, Norman Scott Flickinger and Bradley Wayne and Rhonda Flickinger, both of Sterling; daughter, Janice Louise and David Duran, North Bend, Wash.; 10 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Catherine Flickinger; son, James Flickinger; and brother, Clyde Flickinger.

Funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 6, 2015, at United Methodist Church, Sterling, with the Rev. Marvin Ewertt presiding. Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 5, 2015, with the family present from 5 to 6 p.m. at Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling.

Burial will be in Sterling Community Cemetery, Sterling, with military honors conducted by the Sterling American Legion. Memorials may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice, Newton, in care of the funeral home.

Sarah Ann Fenwick, 72, died July 18, 2015, at her home, Hutchinson. She was born Dec. 25, 1942, in Isabella, Okla., the daughter of Elmer and Dorothy Chesley Kehn. She graduated from Fairview High School. A resident of Hutchinson, formerly of Sterling, she was a homemaker.

She belonged to New Hope Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Dorothy Kehn, a brother, Marvin Kehn, and a son, Allen Fenwick.

NICKERSON – Carrol E. Crawford, 82, died Jan. 3, 2016, at Sterling Presbyterian Manor, Sterling. He was born April 29, 1933, in Cameron, Okla., the son of Rolla and Zora (Wilkes) Crawford. A resident of Nickerson since 1982, moving from Sterling, he retired from Carey Salt as a supervisor after 38 years. He also worked for the United States Postal Service for 13 years, as a rural mail carrier in Sterling.

He was a member of Sterling Country Club, Sterling. He served in the United States Navy from 1950 to 1954.

On Feb. 4, 1993, he married Dorothy Jean (Pickett)Payne Evans in Sterling. She survives. Other survivors include: daughter, Barbara Scheuler and husband, Tony, Hutchinson; son, Curtis and wife, Roberta, Wichita; stepson, Kenneth Payne and wife, Deborah, Sterling; stepdaughter, Donna Henry of Texas; brother, John and wife, Sandy, Chase; two grandchildren, Megan and Jamie Crawford; five step-grandchildren, Brandy, Shauna, and Kendrah Payne, and Joshua and Jacob Morrison; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Richard, Bill, Rolla Jr. and Jim; and two sisters, Graceva and Wanda Trembly.

Funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 7, 2016, at Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling, with Pastor Michael Gray presiding. Dorothy Jean Crawford, 77, of Nickerson, passed away September 16, 2018 at her home in Nickerson. She was born February 13, 1941 in Holdenville, Oklahoma, the daughter of C.F. and Virgie Virginia Maroon Pickett. She attended Moss High School in Moss Oklahoma. Dorothy has resided in Nickerson since 1993, formerly of Sterling, Kansas. She was a convenient store manager and waitress at various restaurants. On February 5, 1993, Dorothy was united in marriage with Caroll Crawford in Sterling, Kansas. He preceded her in death on January 16, 2016. She is also preceded in death by her parents; 2nd husband, Gene Evans Sr.; and nine siblings. She is survived by her son, Kenneth Payne and wife Deborah of Sterling; daughter, Donna Henry and significant other Joel Kerley of West Columbia, TX; three step-sons, Curtis Crawford and wife Bert of Wichita, KS, Charles Fayne Evans and wife Lori of Las Vegas, NV, and Gene Michael Evans Jr. of Chino, CA; step-daughter, Barbara Schuler and husband Tony of Hutchinson; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. On Nov. 27, 1976, she married Anthony ‘Tony’ Ray Colle in Hutchinson. Survivors include: husband, Tony Colle of the home; two sons, Trey and Sarah Colle and Trent and Amber Colle, both of York, Neb.; two brothers, Larry Stiggins of Lubbock, Texas, Kent Stiggins of Hutchinson; three grandchildren, Mayah, Bryce and Javen Colle; several nieces and nephews. STERLING – Marion Gene “Berb” Berblinger, 81, passed away Aug. 2, 2014, at Sterling Presbyterian Manor. He was born March 7, 1933, in rural Ellinwood to Fredrick and Lena Peter Berblinger.

Berb was a 1951 graduate of Alden High School, where he was a three-sport letter winner. He attended Fort Hays State University before transferring to Sterling College where he played football and graduated in 1955, with a degree in Physical Education.

On April 15, 1955, he married Florene “Flo” Reynolds at Sterling. She survives. The couple have three children, daughters, Pam (Dr. Ron) Stevens of Newton, Sara (Steve) Rivas of Sterling, and son, Mike (Sarah) Berblinger of Buhler. There are nine grandchildren, Tyler (Ericia) Stevens and Lauren Stevens, of Newton, Caroline, Luke and Maren Berblinger of Buhler, Hayley (Jesse) Howard of Carthage, Texas, Lindsey, and Rachel and Klint Carter of Sterling; great-grandson, Landyn Stevens of Newton, and two more on the way; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was an avid outdoorsman, loving to golf, fish, and hunt. He was the best husband, father and “Papa,” and was deeply devoted to the young people of Sterling.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Fredrick “Cotton,” Jack and Donald, and sisters, Lorene Eccleston and Carolyn Harrison.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 8, 2014, at the United Methodist Church, Sterling. Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2014, at Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling, with family present from 5 to 7 p.m.
