
LYONS – Tommy L. Hunt, 70, died May 10, 2012, at Via Christi Hospital on St. Francis, Wichita. He was born June 28, 1941, in Hutchinson, Kansas, to Johnie C. and Helen Lereta Bowlin Hunt.
A lifetime resident of Rice County, having lived in Lyons for 46 years, he was retired from the Missouri Pacific Railroad. He served in the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam War.
He was a former member of the VFW, Lyons, was an avid Dirt Track Racer and coyote hunter.
On Oct. 16, 1965, he married Diana Pool in Hutchinson. She survives. Other survivors include: a son, Jack, Lyons; two daughters, Tammy and Jon Darling, Alden, and Tomisha and Joe Young, Moundridge; seven grandchildren, Brandon Darling, Shailey Darling, Nikolas Darling, Harlee Mead, Shelby Mead, Cally Mead and Tymora Dahl; and two great-grandchildren, Jackson, and Emmitt.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2012, in Sterling Community Cemetery, Sterling, with military honors by the U.S. Marine Corps with the Rev. Matthew Pool presiding. Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2012, at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons. Memorials may be sent to Friends of Animals, in care of the funeral home.
