Posted Nov 30, 2011 @ 12:00 PMSTERLING — William “Bill” Leroy Braden, 74, died on Sunday (Nov. 27, 2011) at his residence in Sterling.
He was born on Jan. 14, 1937, in Hutchinson, the son of Calvin Clarke and Vesta Barr Braden.
He was a longtime Sterling resident and graduated from the Kansas State School for the Deaf in Olathe. He was a shoe repairman, former Cessna Aircraft Industry worker for 10 years, and worked at a brace company in Topeka.
He was active in the Hutchinson Deaf Club, an avid supporter of Sterling and Kansas State University sports, and a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Sterling.
He is survived by two sisters, Joanne Stangle of Newton and Jeanne Stocklin of Bradenton, Fla.; three nieces, Brenda and Jason Smith, Deena Stangle, and Debra and Perry Vetter; three nephews, Chris and Carol Stocklin, Douglas Stangle and Donald Stangle Jr.; two great-nieces; and two great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Marilyn Jeanette Braden and Barbara Ellen Braden.
Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Thursday at Birzer Funeral Home in Sterling.
The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church in Sterling. The Rev. Marvin Ewertt will officiate. Burial will be in the Sterling Community Cemetery.
