Sterling Bulletin – Dick Ebling (Eblen), oil field worker, who has made his home at the Sterling Hotel for the past seven years while he has been employed in the oil fields near Sterling, died following a heart attack last Saturday morning.
Mr. Eblen suffered a heart attack in Hutchinson several weeks ago and was confined to a Hutchinson hospital for a couple of weeks but had sufficiently recovered to return to his work and had worked all day Friday. He passed away at 1:30 Saturday morning at the hotel about an hour after being stricken.
Funeral services were held at the Porter Funeral Home Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 conducted by the Rev. F. L. Edwards and burial was in Sterling Cemetery, Survivors include the widow who has been living in McPherson, one daughter….

Mrs. Harold Bruer Buried Here TuesdayFuneral services were held at the Porter Funeral Home Tuesday for Mrs. Harold Bruer, 48, former Sterling resident, who passed away Friday at Grace hospital in Hutchinson after an illness of several weeks. Burial was made in the local cemetery. The service was conducted by Rev. Howard Nyce of Pretty Prairie.Mrs. Bruer, the former Velma Ione Underwood, was born October 6, 1901, at Ione, Wash., where she grew to womanhood. On October 16, 1922 she was married to Harold Bruer, son of Mrs. Josephine Bruer of Sterling, and in 1923 they came here to make their home.To this union were born 12 children, ten of whom survive.Also surviving is her husband, Harold, who has been a patient at the Veterans Hospital in Wichita for the past four years, following an accident in which he sustained a serious leg injury.The surviving sons are Joseph, John, Leo, Arlen, Martindale and Roger. The daughters are Ann, Mary Lou, Julia and Martha. The children are all residents of Sough Hutchinson except Sgt. John Bruer who is stationed at Camp Hood, Texas.
In 1944 the family moved from Sterling to Plevna and in 1948 to South Hutchinson.
Survivors also include four brothers and four sisters, all residents of the state of Washington.

He had been ill only a few days.Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at three o’clock at the Porter Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. H. T. Clark. Burial was in the Sterling cemetery.
