Elizabeth M Morris was born on March 10, 1862, in Peoria, Illinois, her father, JAMES, was 32, and her mother, ALICE, was 27. She married Morris Cramer Roy on April 29, 1883, in Sterling, Kansas. They had five children during their marriage. She died on October 14, 1957, in Sterling, Kansas, at the age of 95, and was buried there.

Elizabeth was a life member of the Congregational Church.  She was a devoted mother, a faithful worker during the war for the Red Cross.  She was an artist with several of her paintings decorating her home.  At the time of her death, she was the oldest Sterling resident, and remembered as a loving, sweet lady.

Robert Maurice Reed, Jr.

Sterling- Robert Maurice Reed Jr., 60, died Aug.9, 2004, at Hutchinson Hospital, Hutchinson.

He was born July 3, 1944, at Pomona, Calif., the son of R. Maurice and Margaret Nichol Reed. He graduated from Sterling College in 1966.  A lifetime resident of Sterling, He was a retired admission and registrar officer at Sterling College, and retired business manager of Sterling Oil Co., Sterling, KS and Rickabaugh Motor Co., Lyons.

He belonged to United Presbyterian Church, was a United Presbyterian Church elder and member of Rotary Club and American Legion, all at Sterling. He also was a member of the Naval Reserve Association.

He was a retired Captain of the U.S. Naval Reserve.

On May 28, 1966, he married Ginger Rollins Hammond at Sterling. She survives.

Other survivors include: his parents, Sterling; a son, Robert Mark Reed and wife Abby Elizabeth, Canton, Ohio; two daughters, Susan Michelle Reed, Kansas City, Mo., and Robin Elizabeth Webb and husband Eddie R., Lyons; a brother, Don Reed, Sterling and a grandson, Caden Webb.

He was preceded in death by a son, John David; and a sister, Marilyn Reed.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at United Presbyterian Church, Sterling, with the Rev. Glen Holman presiding. Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Sillin Funeral Home, Sterling.  Burial will be in Sterling Community Cemetery, Sterling, with full military honors conducted by Fort Riley Honor Guard.

Memorials may be sent to Sterling College, in care of the funeral home, Seventh and Jefferson, Sterling, KS 67579.
