Mr. A. F. Crain, an old resident of Sterling, died on Sunday after a short illness. The cause of his death was pneumonia. He was buried on Monday afternoon under the auspices of Meade Post, G.A.R. He was an old soldier but not a member of the Post.
Amos F. Crain was born on September 3, 1822, in Berlin, Vermont, the child of William Crain and Susannah Dutton. He had two daughters with Margaret A. between 1847 and 1848. He died in May 1882 in Sterling, Kansas, at the age of 59, and was buried there.
Eliza M. Crain was born in 1847 in Andover, Vermont, her father, Amos, was 25 and her mother, Margaret, was 20. She was married on October 13, 1866, to Abraham Locke in Cavendish, Vermont. She had one sister.
Susie Crain was born in 1848 in Vermont, her father, Amos, was 26 and her mother, Margaret, was 21. She married Albert White Harrington on December 13, 1865, in Rockingham, Vermont. They had one child during their marriage. She had one sister.
