Harold Hubert Riner, 91, died August 29, 2004, at Presbyterian Manor, Sterling.  He was born Oct. 1, 1912, at Sterling, the son of William Edward and May Irene Wertz Riner. A lifetime resident of Sterling, he was a self-employed plumber.  He was a US Navy veteran of WW II.

In August 1936, he married Ruby Margaret Savage at Sterling. She died in Nov. 2003. Survivors include two sons, Harold G., Lyons, and William E., Hutchinson; a daughter, Margaret Y. Swalley, Las Vegas; and eight grandchildren.

Cremation has taken place. Private inurnment will take place at a later date. Memorials may be sent to Sterling Presbyterian Manor, in care of Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home and Crematory, Hutchinson.

Estella May Riner Obituary

Estella May Riner, a lifetime resident of Sterling, died Friday, Oct. 9, 1998, at her home at the age of 95.

She was born Jan. 31, 1903, at La Crosse, the daughter of John Ralph and Nellie May Hallock Bunn. She was a seamstress and a homemaker.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Sterling.

On Aug. 8, 1931, she married John Henry Riner at Sterling. He died Nov. 1, 1949.

Survivors include a son, Forrest Riner, Sterling; a daughter, Carol Palfenier, Park Forest, Ill.; a sister, Helen Osenbaugh, Hutchinson; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, John Edward Riner and Donald Paul Riner, five brothers and three sisters.

Services were held a 1 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church, Sterling, with Pastor Grant Davis officiating. Burial was in the Sterling Community Cemetery.

Memorials may be sent to the church in care of Buhler Mortuary, Buhler.
