Henry Franklin Smith was the son of Henry Smith. He was the husband of Amirtha (Avery) Smith. They were married December 27, 1854.Obituary
Unidentified Newsclipping – 1891
SMITH.–Henry Franklin Smith was born in Smithville, Canada, November 8, 1831. He was the second son of Henry Smith, Esq., a distinguished citizen and magistrate. Brother Smith graduated from Toronto Normal School in 1853 and entered into teaching. Five years afterward failing health compelled him to abandon the school-room. Later he engaged in the hardware business in Tillsonburg, Canada. After seven years he removed to Bothwell, where for twenty years he was town clerk and bailiff. For change of climate he moved to Kansas City, Kansas, in 1888. In August, 1891, he removed to Pleasant Hill, Missouri, where, on December 9, 1891, he entered into rest. While attending school at Toronto, at twenty-two, Brother Smith was converted and united with the Wesleyan Methodist church. He became at once an active, earnest Christian. His musical talent was consecrated. He rejoiced in perfect love. In the darkest hour his light shone steadily. When he came to Kansas City he united with London Heights Methodist Episcopal Church; afterward with the Methodist Episcopal church in Pleasant Hill, Missouri. December 27, 1854, he married Miss Amirtha Avery. A son and daughter were born to them. The faithful Christian wife and children were constantly at his bedisde during his last illness. After weeks of suffering, with triumphant hope, his spirit entered into rest. The funeral services were conducted by his pastor, the writer; the body was interred in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
