Death of Al. West’s Child
Al West’s little daughter died Sunday in Hutchinson from blood poisoning. The remains were brought to Sterling Tuesday and buried in Cottonwood Cemetery. The bereaved parents have the sympathy of many Sterling friends. Ben Hickman and wife and a number of Hutchinson friends came up to attend the burial.

Howard Elmer Wertz was born in Black County, Ohio, Feb. 11, 1883, moved with his parents to Rice county in 1887, and died in Sterling in his parents’ home, Mar. 19, 1910, aged 27 years, 11 months and 7 days. He was buried on Sunday afternoon in Cottonwood cemetery. Services at the home conducted by Rev. Ira S. Bundy, assisted by Rev. A. D. McCarroll. He was a member of the A.O.U.W., The lodge of this place furnished pallbearers and had a burial service at the grave. He leaves a father and mother, one brother and one sister and many friends to mourn his death. His sickness was of about six months’ duration. He knew the friends up to the moment of his departure.
