STERLING — Funeral services for Janet Joan Yeakel, 61, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Porter and Sillin Funeral Home, Sterling, followed by burial at Sterling Cemetery.
Mrs. Yeakel died Sunday, April 2, 1995, at her home.
She was born July 5, 1933, in Sterling, the daughter of Frank Vaughn and Maxine Bonnie Cross Holland.
She attended Alden and Sterling schools and graduated from Sterling High School in 1951. She grew up and lived in Sterling and moved to Lawrence in 1956.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Kansas University Dames, Sweet Adalines and the First United Methodist Church in Sterling. She played the piano.
She married Bruce Earl Yeakel on Feb. 1, 1952, in Denver. He survives at the home.
Other survivors include two sons Rich Yeakel, Lawrence, and Steve Yeakel, Louisville, Ky.; a daughter, Amy Yeakel, Lawrence; a brother, Tom Holland, Denver; a sister, Kay Evans, Hutchinson; and six grandchildren.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the First United Methodist Church, Sterling. They may be sent in care of Porter and Sillin Funeral Home, Sterling, or Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, which is handling arrangements.
