Agnes D. Wurst, a longtime resident of Sterling, died Monday, Sept. 26, 2005, at Sterling Presbyterian Manor at the age of 82.
She was born June 26, 1923, at Hays, the daughter of George and Blanche Faulkner Downey. She was a retired bookkeeper for Sterling Drilling Company.
She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Altar Society, Lyons; American Legion Women’s Auxiliary and was a Cub Scout Den Mother, Sterling. She loved her family, her friends, her faith and playing bridge.
On Nov. 25, 1948, she married Graydon L. Wurst at LaJunta, Colo. He died Sept. 20, 2002.
Survivors include three sons, Gregory Wurst and wife Adrian Walker, Manhattan; Wendel Wurst and wife Rhonda, Garden City; and Brian Wurst and wife Beverly, Lamar, Colo.; and 10 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Clare Quicksall, Marguerite Arnold and Judy Fawcett.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at st. Paul Catholic Church, Lyons, with Father Juan Garza officiating. Burial will be in the Sterling Community Cemetery.
