John J. Steierl, 80, died Friday, May 29, 2015, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born on the family farm in Rice County, the son of John C. and Vesta G. (Hawver) Steierl.

He attended Rice County schools and worked at Dillons Bakery for 27 years, retiring in 1994.

He married Viva Jean Urban. She survives. Other survivors include: a sister, Donna Smith; son, Larry; daughter, Susan Starlin; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Clifford.

Memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2015, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with the Reverend Georgia Decker presiding. His register book will be available to sign until service time, with family present at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
