Frank Schmitz, son of John and Barbara (born in Germany), was born at Sterling, Kan., April 5, 1881, and died at his home near Sterling, November 6, 1943. He grew up in this community and attended the White school.
On April 20, 1911, he was united in marriage to Hazel Hastings, and to them were born two daughters.
Mr. Schmitz was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Barbara Buel, of Sterling, and Mrs. Blanche Moon, of Wichita, two sisters, Mrs. James Miller, Sterling, and Mrs. Angie Hildyard, of Wichita; three brothers, John of Sterling, William, of Andale and Sgt. Joe Schmitz, serving with the United States Army; one granddaughter, other relative and many friends.
