Aaron M Saulter went with James H. Stewart and  together enlisted in the Civil war effort.   He lived in Illinois in 1863, and went from there to Massachusetts in company with James H. Stewart, and enlisted in the 55th Massachusetts colored regiment, serving till September 1865.
