 ALDEN – Twila L. Proffitt, 95, died Sept. 10, 2013, at Presbyterian Manor, Sterling. She was born Feb. 4, 1918, in rural Sterling, daughter of Frank and Leela Stevens Harper.A lifetime Alden and Sterling resident, she was a homemaker, a farmwife and a graduate of Sterling High School. Her memberships included: Alden Baptist Church, TAB Club, YWCA, Longtime Sunday school teacher and she sponsored several quilt shows in Alden. On Sept. 21, 1936, she married Gerald Proffitt in McPherson.She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Roddy Proffitt; four brothers, Virgil, Leroy, Verlin and Delbert Harper; a sister, Erma Newby; grandson, Royce Glinke; granddaughter, Barbara and Vern Stutz; and great-grandson, Tyson Proffitt.Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013, at the United Methodist Church, Sterling, with Pastor Kendal Connor officiating.
