J M Proffitt was born on September 22, 1904, in Kansas, his father was William and his mother, Rosie.  He married Lutie Grace Towse on February 15, 1930, in Great Bend, Kansas. They had one child during their marriage. J Med on February 4, 1987, in Sterling, Kansas, at the age of 82, and was buried there.
