Martha Susan Grace Smisor was born on February 22, 1879, in Windsor, Illinois, her father, Philip, was 42 and her mother, Mary, was 41. She married Floyd Carroll ‘Skip’ Porter on September 4, 1907, in Sterling, Kansas. They had two children during their marriage. She died on September 9, 1968, in Sterling, Kansas, at the age of 89.
