W.E. Fulton (Pegg) was hospitalized in Oklahoma City for over 6 months with a tumor on his brain and as removal of an infected mastoid. His wife (Pearl Carson) was by his bedside during that time with only occasional visits home. Helen was senior in high school, she and her brother, Robert E. Fulton, were responsible for the complete care of the three younger children (Edgar Lee, Virginia Raye and Peggy Ann). They took care of all the household chores, including cooking, washing with a ringer washer, and ironing.
