LYONS – Henry C. “Dink” Elliott, 88, died June 24, 2014, at Rice County District Hospital, Lyons. He was born April 13, 1926, in Alden, the son of Carl Clarkson and Helen J. (Bennett) Elliott. A resident of Lyons, he was a retired Electrician for Knotts Berry Farm in Buena Park, Calif.

He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, having received the Purple Heart. He was a member of the NRA, American Legion, and DAV.

On May 6, 1947, he married Joyce Irene Voss in Pratt. She survives. Other survivors include: two sons, Clark Wayne Elliott (Sue), Lyons, and Kenneth D. Elliott (Carol), Clovis, Calif.; two daughters, Susan D. Flynn (Robert), Clovis, Calif., and Rebecca L. Armstrong (Greg), Great Bend; a brother, James Ray Elliott, Sr., Hutchinson; three sisters, Norma Goertzen, Kingman, Ariz., Vera Gulick, Nickerson, and Nina Fox, Hutchinson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, four sisters and a granddaughter.

Graveside service at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 28, 2014, in Sterling Community Cemetery, Sterling, with Pastor Bryan Elliott presiding. Military honors will be conducted by Fort Riley Honor Guard and Sterling American Legion and Legion Riders. Memorials may be made to Rice County on Aging or American Legion Color Guard, in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
