Mr. A. F. Crain, an old resident of Sterling, died on Sunday after a short illness. The cause of his death was pneumonia. He was buried on Monday afternoon under the auspices of Meade Post, G.A.R. He was an old soldier but not a member of the Post.
Amos F. Crain was born on September 3, 1822, in Berlin, Vermont, the child of William Crain and Susannah Dutton. He had two daughters with Margaret A. between 1847 and 1848. He died in May 1882 in Sterling, Kansas, at the age of 59, and was buried there.
