Joel Corley was born on October 8, 1843, in Shelbyville, Illinois, his father, Bryant, was 37 and his mother, Elizabeth, was 35. He was married three times and had eight sons and four daughters. He died on August 21, 1925, in Alden, Kansas, at the age of 81.
Catherine Freshwater was born in Virginia. She married Joel Corley on October 23, 1867. They had one child during their marriage. Charles Corley was born in September 1869 in Shelby, IL to Catherine Freshwater and Joel Corley, age 25.
Mary M Naylor was born in 1853 in Ohio. She married Joel Corley in 1871. They had one child during their marriage. She died as a young mother on March 18, 1872, at the age of 19.
David B Corley was born on March 11, 1872, in Saybrook, Illinois, the child of Joel and Mary M. He lost his mother when he was only an infant. He died on June 18, 1887, in Ohio, when he was 15 years old.
Joel Corley married Elizabeth Worley on August 28, 1873, in McLean, Illinois, when he was 29 years old. His wife Elizabeth passed away in 1920 in Kansas, at the age of 76. They had been married for 47 years.
