Wm. Calderwood
William Calderwood, one of our consistent citizens, pass to the unseen world from his home one mile northeast of Sterling. He was born at West Galway, N.Y., April 17, 1839, the son of John and Jane Calderwood. He came west with his parents, settling in Scott County, Iowa, near St. Clair in the year 1866, where he lived until 1895, when he moved to Monmouth, Ill. After a few years, he came to Sterling, Kan., where he died Nov. 10, 1908. He was married to Miss Mary Orr of West Galway, N.Y., Sep. 5, 1888, who with three children, Robert O., John O., and Jean B. survive him to mourn his loss also three sisters and one brother and many friends will miss him, and extend their sympathy to the bereaved family. In all the places where he has lived, he has been a consistent member of the United Presbyterian church. “Mark the perfect man and behold the upright, for the end of that man is peace.” The funeral was held in the home on Thursday, the 12th at 2:30 p.m., conducted by the pastor, assisted by Dr. Harkness.

| William Calderwood was born on April 17, 1839, in Perth, New York, his father, John, was 42 and his mother, Jean, was 29. He married Mary Isabel Orr on September 5, 1888, in Le Claire, Iowa. They had three children during their marriage. He died on November 10, 1908, in Sterling, Kansas, at the age of 69, and was buried there.
