![]() NEWTON – Olive May Brown, 94, died Dec. 9, 2013, in Newton, Kan. She was born Aug. 22, 1919, in Lane County, Kan., the daughter of John Archibald Case and Nannie Maud Ahlers. Her adopted parents were: John A. and Adda Ellen Case.A Newton resident since 2002, formerly of Alden and Sterling. She was a homemaker having farmed with her husband Joseph. Her memberships included: West Salem Church E.U.B. in rural Sterling, First United Methodist Church in Sterling, Walnut Willing Workers and 4-H Club in Reno County, EHU KSU Extension, Birthday Club, Rebekah Lodge, where she served as Past Noble Grand Matron and Past District President of Sterling.On Oct. 19, 1938, she married Joseph Norman Brown in La Crosse, Kan. He died June 30, 1966. Survivors include: two sons, John W. Brown ( Sandra) of Rancho CuCamonga, Calif., and Lawrence E. Brown of Newton; four daughters, Cecelia A. Young of Lyons, Patricia E. Flack of Torrance, Calif., Marjorie R. Everoski of Newton, Kan., Barbara S. Thomas (Stacy) of Park City, Kan.; 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Norman Brown.Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 16, 2013, at the First United Methodist Church, Sterling, with Reverend Marvin Ewertt officiating. Burial will be in the Sterling Community Cemetery. Visitation 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013, at Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling. Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital or Easter Seals, in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling .Family links: |
