Member of Company A, 1st Iowa Cavalry, served under General Custer following the Civil War. Lived near Sandusky, Iowa until move to Sterling about 1875-1876. Personal letter tell of successful farming and shipment of car loads of broom corn to New York and Philadelphia. He was a charter member of the Presbyterian Church in Sterling and a member of the Republican Party. Had 11 children.
Some children use last name spelled Boyce or Boyse
