Littleton Porter Baker was born on August 14, 1847, in Missouri, his father, Ellis, was 28 and his mother, Nancy, was 25. He had one son, Harvey Baker, from one relationship. He then married Mary Ballanger Austin and they had two children together. He died on May 17, 1910, in Sterling, Kansas, at the age of 62, and was buried there.
