Pliny Fisk Axtell, son of Joseph Smith Axtell and Elizabeth Condit, married first on 10 October 1854 in Pennsylvania to Sarah Rice, daughter of John and Sarah (Stright) Rice. Pliny and Sarah had three children: Olive Axtell, Celestia Axtell, Ophelia Axtell.Pliny married secondly on 25 March 1867, to Martha A. Hitchcock. Pliny and Martha had six children: Lottie Axtell, Orville C. Axtell,Burton Fisk Axtell, Blanche Axtell, Elvira Maude Axtell, and Howard L.
