Sterling – Eunice F. Altland, 86, died March 10, 2006, at her home, Sterling. She was born Feb. 18, 1920, in Corbin, the daughter of Sylvester at Rose Loader Davidson. She graduated as valedictorian from Seymour High School. A resident of Sterling since 1945, she was a farmer; and secretary and treasurer at the former Sterling Hospital, and Peoples Natural Gas Co., and treasurer at Sterling United Methodist Church for 13 years.  She belonged to United Methodist Church for 13 years.

On Feb.7, 1938, she married Charles R. Carder. They later divorced. On Oct.7, 1947 she married Robert P. Altland, Jr. in Sterling. He died June 23, 1978,

Survivors include a daughter Susan Mae Ackley and her husband Dennis, Lee’s Summit, Mo.; a daughter-in-law, Priscilla Carder; Sterling; a sister, Lucille Hill, Topeka; four grandchildren, Douglas Carder; Robert Carder; Ted Carder and Ashley Ross; and eight great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by a son, Charles Robert ‘Chuck’ Carder.
