Dorothy M. Allen, 90 years old, died Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at Sterling Presbyterian Manor. She was born July 6, 1926, Coldwater, daughter of David and Velma Malone Scholle. Dorothy married Lester J. Allen, Sept. 24, 1945, in Liberal. She has been a Sterling resident since 1968 formerly of Great Bend. She was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Sterling. Survivors include two daughters, Doris and Brian Hamby, Hutchinson,  Beth and John Cota, Olathe; two brothers, James Scholle, Van Buren, Ark., Ivan Scholle, Clarksville, Tenn.; five grandchildren, David and Stephanie Hamby, Lawrence, Paul and Julie Hamby, Rachel and Bruce Brown, both of Wichita, John and Wendy Cota, Bonner Springs, Anthony and Bonny Cota, Gardner; great-grandchildren, Taylor and Logan Hamby, Preston, Kellyn and  Breckyn Hamby, Asher, Lucy and Macy Brown, Katie Cota, Isabelle Cota and Kaitlyn Trotter. Preceded in death by her husband Lester; parents; and her sister, Mary Lynn. Visitation will be 2-7 p.m., Thursday, June 16 at Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling. Funeral Service will be 2 p.m., Friday, June 17 at Calvary Baptist Church, Sterling, with Pastor Dale Jordan.
