BONNIE CONSIDINE

Bonnie J. Considine of Sterling died March 5, 1992, at the District Hospital in Lyons. She was 65.

Born June 24, 1926, in Florence, she married Eugene Considine on Aug. 12, 1944, in Lyons. She had been a resident of Sterling since 1943.

She was a homemaker and a member of the United Methodist Church in Sterling, United Methodist Women, Native Sons and Daughters of Kansas, General Federation of Women’s Clubs,  Reno County Historical Society, American Agri Women, Reno County Farm Bureau Board, and was a Reno and Rice County 4-H judge.

She is survived by her husband of the home; her parents, Ernest David Break and Pearl Caley Break of Florence, a daughter Rhonda Baker of Hutchinson, a son, Denny of Sterling; a brother, Ronald Break of Marion; and three grandchildren.

Rev. James Graves will officiate at the service at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 7, at the United Methodist Church in Sterling. Burial will be in the Sterling Community Cemetery.

Friends may call from 3 until 8 p.m. Friday at Porter and Sillin Funeral Home in Sterling. Memorials to the church are suggested.

CHARMING GIRL CALLED BY DEATH

Miss Lois Clark’s Death Brought Sadness into Every Home Where She Was Known.  

Seldom have we been called upon to record a death that has seemed so sad as that of Miss Lois Clark. She had been suffering from stomach trouble for about a year, but her condition was not thought to be serious. A few days before her death she was taken to the Sterling hospital where an operation was performed. She seemed to be making satisfactory recovery, but an internal hemorrhage developed and without any warning she slipped quietly away. When the news of her death was circulated on the streets the following morning, it was hard to believe that the life of this charming young lady had been so suddenly snuffed out.

Lois was a daughter of Oran A and Nettie Clark. She was born near Sterling, August 22, 1908, and passed away at the age of twenty years, eleven months and eighteen days. At an early age she united with the Methodist church and has since been an active and faithful worker. She attended Sterling high school, where she was active in Girl Reserve and in music circles, and in the social activities of the town. Since her graduation in 1927 she has resided with her parents at Dighton where she taught one year. She had also taken one year of Public School Music at Emporia. Her cheerfulness and affability endeared her to all who knew her. She gave freely of her time and talent in the service of both church and school, and will be sadly missed by a host of friends, in addition to her bereaved family. 
During the State Music Contest at Emporia in 1927, when Sterling schools won the tournament, Miss Lois won first prize in the girls medium voice solo, and won a scholarship.
Lois is survived by her father and mother, three brothers and one sister who will feel most keenly the loss of this young life which has budded here to bloom in God’s more glorious garden. 
Funeral services were held from the M. E. church, Sunday, August 11, at 4:30, conducted by Rev. A. N. Smith. The pallbearers were old schoolmates and friends of the deceased. Music was furnished by a choir composed of old school chums. The body was laid to rest in Sterling cemetery and the grave was covered with beautiful flowers from admiring friends and relatives.
