SALINA – Millie Elizabeth Gard, 86, Salina, died Sunday, June 5, 2010. She was born Feb. 20, 1924, in Sterling, Kan. She attended Sterling High School and graduated from Manhattan High School in 1941. She was a graduate of Marymount College and attended Kansas State University and the University of Kansas. She worked at Cessna in Wichita. She was retired as a medical technician at the then Asbury Hospital in Salina.

Survivors include: three sons, Dan C. Gard of Salina, Scott R. Gard of Abilene and D. Joe Gard of Salina; two daughters, Margaret C. Lantz of Lincoln County and Jessica E. Regenhardt of Hot Springs, Ark.; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her former husband, Russel W. Gard, in 2003; a son, John Waid Gard; a sister, Helen Shoop; and four brothers, Waid Jr., Jack, Jim and Leslie Heter.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday, June 10, 2010, at Roselawn Heights Memorial Chapel, 1920 E. Crawford St., Salina. There will be no visitation. Burial service will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in Sterling City Cemetery, Sterling.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church Youth Group in Salina. Roselawn Mortuary, 1307 S. Santa Fe; Salina, is handling arrangements. Visit www.roselawnsalina.com for online condolences.

McPherson- Dorothy Ann Fabin, 79, died March 17 at the Infinia Nursing Home in McPherson. She was born Aug. 2, 1925, in Sterling, the daughter of Frank and Bernice Colby Fabin. She graduated from Sterling High School. A 27-year resident of McPherson, she was formerly a longtime Sterling resident. She was a former employee of Sterling phone company and worked in the dietary departments in nursing homes in Sterling and McPherson. Fabin was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mc Pherson. Survivors include one brother, George Fabin of Great Bend. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Marion Fabin and Donnie Joe Favin, and two sisters, Maxine McConnell and Mary Margaret Fabin. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in McPherson, with the Rev. Paul Oborny officiating. Burial will be in Sterling Community Cemetery. There will be no visitation.

Sterling – Emery W. ‘Charlie’ Farrell, 95, died July 25, 2001, at Sterling Presbyterian Manor, Sterling.  He was born May 26, 1906, at Lancaster, Mo., the son of Frank D. and Myrtle Farrell. A Sterling resident since 1926, he was a retired president of First National Bank, Sterling. He was a US Navy veteran of World War II.  He belonged to United Methodist Church and American Legion, both of Sterling.

On Dec. 25, 1927, he married Eva N. Gatts at Greentop, Mo. She died Jan. 2 1998.  Survivors include a son, Frank, Agoura, Calif., a daughter, Mary Charlene Roberts, Charlotte, N.C.; a sister, Mary Vogel, Hawthorne, Calif., seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Sterling Community Cemetery with the Rev. Glen Holman presiding.

Allan H. Ferguson, 61, of Hutchinson, died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2009, at Hospice House in Hutchinson. He was born March 23, 1947, in Holdenville, Okla., to Hoyt and Minella Lee (Wright) Ferguson. He graduated from Garden City High School in 1965 and attended Garden City Community College. A resident of Hutchinson since 1972, Mr. Ferguson was employed by Dillon Stores before taking medical retirement in 1992. He was a member of Eastwood Church of Christ and served in the U.S. Air Force. Survivors include his wife, Patsy “Patti” Ferguson, whom he married on April 13, 1969, in Garden City; a sister, Earlene Ploger of Pratt; a brother, Russell Ferguson of Colorado Springs, Colo.; six nephews; and three nieces.
