Judson Southland Chapin was born on January 17, 1841, in Jamestown, New York, his father, Asahel, was 36 and his mother, Catherine, was 20. He married Fanny Olney Clarke Chapin on October 31, 1867, in Conneaut, Ohio. They had two children during their marriage. He died on July 21, 1879, in Sterling, Kansas, at the age of 38, and was buried there.

Fanny Olney Clarke Chapin was born on June 9, 1843, in Providence, Rhode Island, her father, William, was 40 and her mother, Caroline, was 33. She married Judson Southland Chapin and they had two children together. She had been married 11 years before her young husband/father died.  Fanny Olney Clarke Chapin married George Jeffries Pitman in Fordington, Lincolnshire, England, on August 25, 1878, when she was 35 years old.  She died in 1930 at her daughter’s home in Rochester, NY at the age of 87 having been married to George Pitman 52 years.

George Jeffries Pitman was born in 1839. He married Fanny Olney Clarke Chapin on August 25, 1878. (Date is incorrect ??)

Ronnie L. ‘Ronnie’ Caywood

Ronnie L. ‘Ronnie’ Caywood, 60, of Hutchinson, died June 8, 1998, at his home.

He was born Oct. 26, 1937, at Hutchinson, the son of Kenneth V. and Wilma Engbrecht Caywood. He graduated from Sterling High School in 1955. A Hutchinson resident since 1965, moving from Sterling, he formerly owned the Sterling Cleaners and was employed by Dillon Stores Division as a truck driver from 1980 until his retirement in 1997.

He belonged to the Westbrook Baptist Church, Hutchinson.

On Sept. 14, 1956, he married Martha Ann Gaeddert at Sterling. She survives.

Other survivors include: a son, Jim, Buhler; two daughters, Vickie Scantlin, Liberal, and Kim Voth, Wichita; mother, Sterling; four brothers, Larry Phoenix, Mickey, Hutchinson, and Donald and Steve, both of Sterling; a sister, Judy Nelson, Rose Hill; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Westbrook Baptist Church, Hutchinson, with the Rev. Jeff S. Cokely presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Sterling Community Cemetery.

Memorials may be sent to Hospice of Reno County or to the church, both in care of the mortuary.
