PROMINENT STERLING MAN DIES SUDDENLY
Sterling, July 29–E. K. Dill, 71, prominent farmer near Sterling, died suddenly yesterday, from a cerebral embolism. He had been an invalid for two years. The widow survives, and a sister, Mrs. T. J. Heter, of Sterling. The funeral was held this afternoon at the Methodist church, under Masonic auspices.

Philip Oliver DeWalt was born in Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. He married Lavina Heiner in Iowa in 1869. Oliver as he went by came with his family to Kansas in 1878. They lived in Stafford County until about 1900 when they moved to Harvey County. The DeWalt’s had 11 children. Howard, Fay, Earnest, Frank, Charlie, Glenn, Pearl, Gladys, Veda, Eugene and a married daughter. Around 1917 Oliver and his family with the exception of Fay and Pearl moved to Seattle, Washington. Lavina passed away in Seattle in 1927 and Oliver moved back to Newton in 1931 and lived with his son Fay until his passing in 1937.Family links:
