Joseph Aaron Wilson was born on January 26, 1847, in Ross, Ohio, his father, James, was 49 and his mother, Quintilla, was 48. He then married Mary Frances( Underwood) Cole Mayberry Ball Stone in 1897. She is buried in the Lyons, KS cemetery. He then married Caroline Emeline( Heisinger) McCloud in 1916. Then he was married to Mary (Fulkerson). He died on April 19, 1922, in Sterling, Kansas, at the age of 75, and was buried there.

DEATH CLAIMED JOSEPH WILSON
Who Had Been Ill for Some Time With Cancer of the Stomach – Funeral This Afternoon
Joe Wilson, who had been ill for some time with cancer of the stomach, died at his home on West Main street, Wednesday morning, about 8 o’clock. We are indebted to some friends of the family for the following obituary: April 1870. To this union were born ten children, seven preceding the father in death. The mother died February 14, 1884. Three children, two sons and one daughter, are left to mourn the death of a devoted father. They are: Charles Augustus, address unknown;; Thomas Joseph, of Yaggy, who was with his father at the time of his death, and Lillie, of Decatur, Illinois. One sister, Mrs. Millie Hill, of Decatur, Ill., also survives.
On May 11, 1915, Mr. Wilson and Mrs. Samuel McCloud were married in Lyons. Mrs. Wilson is left to mourn the death of a kind husband but will be sustained in her loss by her two sons and one daughter, Frank R. McCloud, of Fowler; Ross T. McCloud of Fall City, Nebr.; and daughter Anne, of Sterling.
Funeral services were held this afternoon, at 2:30, at the Baptist church, conducted by Rev. Brown. Mr. Wilson was laid to rest in Cottonwood cemetery beside his father and mother.

Sterling – Mildred E. Wilkey, 87, died June 3, 2005, at Lyons District Hospital. She was born Dec. 16, 1917, at Sterling, the daughter of Charles and Emma Clark Vogel. She graduated from Sterling High School. A lifetime Sterling resident, she was a homemaker and retired dietitian for Sterling Presbyterian Manor. She belonged to Sterling Reformed Presbyterian Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher; was Girl Scout leader; and was a member of the Women’s Missionary Society and The Club, all at Sterling.
