Sterling – Elva F. Schechter, 80, died Nov. 15, 2000, at Winfield Hospital. She was born Sept. 2, 1920, at Zenith, the daughter of James and Zella Gordon Henry. A longtime Sterling resident, she was a retired school teacher at Sterling. She belonged to United Presbyterian Church, Sterling.
On June 2, 1942, she married Bruce D. Schechter at Sterling. He died Sept. 3, 1990. Survivors include a son, David, Lyons; two daughters, Patty Kelso, Sterling, and Janice Rhodes, Winfield; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Sterling Community Cemetery, with the Rev. Glen Holman, presiding.
Memorials may be sent to Sterling United Presbyterian Church, in care of the funeral home.
