HENRY ‘DICK’ STOCKWELL DEAD

H.E. Stockwell, known to the older residents of this vicinity as “Dick” Stockwell, died at his home in Denver last Saturday, and the body was shipped to this city for burial.

Mr. Stockwell was a farmer here in the early days, one of the older residents telling us he was here before the Bulletin was established.  He was a son of John H. Stockwell, one of the real heroes of the Civil war. John Stockwell was on of the best known war veterans of this part of the state.  He was badly crippled, being paralyzed from the hips down and both ear drums having been bursted from the roar of cannon.  He was for years a helpless invalid.

Dick Stockwell was a farmer, who lived south of the river for a number of years, later coming to town and conducting a dray line. He is a brother of Mrs. Cal Wagner of this city. He was 59 years, 8 months, and  13 days old at the time of his death. He is survived by three sons and two daughters, all of whom were present at the funeral services.

The funeral services were held from the M.E. church in this city Wednesday and were in charge of . . . a friend of all. The pallbearers were all former friends of the deceased. . . .  (Unreadable)
