BUHLER – Rakestraw, Lillian Rae, 92, former longtime resident of Sterling and homemaker, died November 10, 2009 at Buhler Sunshine Meadows. She was born on January 19, 1917 in Geneseo, KS to Emmit Ray & Bertha Eleanor Manwarren Miller. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, Sterling, a member of Silver Hair Legislature and Young At Heart and a Sunday school instructor and choir director, both of the church. She married Calvin Earl Rakestraw on May 9, 1936 in Great Bend. He preceded her in death on April 1, 1988. She is also preceded in death by a brother, 3 sisters, and a grandson. She is survived by sons, E.W. “Dub” (Anita) Rakestraw of El Dorado and Curtis D. (Diana) Rakestraw of Wichita; daughters, Verlee Adam of El Dorado, Linda R. (Bud) Riner of Hutchinson and Polly Ann (Rick) Brotzman of Hutchinson; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; nephew, Gary (Jan) Geist of Hutchinson; sister-in-law, Lyndall Rockwell of Hutchinson; as well as numerous other relatives. Friends may sign the book 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Wed. & Thurs., at Elliott Mortuary. Services 1 p.m., Friday at Sterling Cemetery Chapel, Sterling with Pastor Stephen Taylor officiating.
