Alta P. Lankford, 96, Hutchinson, died Tuesday, Sept 29, 1998, at Ralph Thorne Health Center, Hutchinson.

She was born July 16, 1902, at Colorado City, Colo., the daughter of Everette Lyle and Estella O. Peed Hoffman. A longtime resident of the Sterling and Hutchinson areas, she was a graduate of Sterling High School and attended Sterling College. She was a retired secretary/bookkeeper for C. D. Jennings Grain Co. and Continental Grain Co., retiring in 1967.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Hutchinson.

On Sept 1, 1935, she married Clarence M. Lankford at Hutchinson. He died Dec. 18, 1958.

Survivors include: a sister-in-law, Anita Hoffman, Overland Park; a nephew and two nieces.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Alfred, Leonard and Kenneth Hoffman.

Funeral was at 11 a.m. Oct. 1 at Wesley Towers Chapel with the Rev. Robert B. Brooks presiding. Burial was in Sterling Community Cemetery.

Memorials may be sent to the Good Samaritan Fund at Wesley Towers or to the First United Methodist Church, in care of the mortuary.
