Lyons – Scott A Varney, 39, died April 3, 2006, at Hutchinson Hospital. He was born Feb. 7, 1967, in Sterling, the son of Arthur H. and Ruth E. Murphy Varney. He was 1965 graduate of Little River High School and a 1987 graduate of McPherson Vocational College. A lifetime Lyons area resident, he was the owner of Varney’s Rural Shop and a former mechanic for the Rice County Highway Department.
Survivors include his wife, Lori Miller Varney, of the home; daughter, Kiley Varney, Hesston; his mother, Ruth Varney Lyons; two stepsons, Adrick and Brody Miller, both of Lyons; a stepdaughter, Casha Miller, Lyons; a sister Joleen Larkin, Lyons; three nieces; and two great-nieces. He was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral will be a 2 p.m. Thursday at Sillin Funeral Home, Lyons, with the Rev. Bill Runyan presiding. Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sterling Community Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to Rose Memorial Scholarship Fund in care of the funeral home.
