Sterling – Mabel M. Oden, 83, died June 20, 2004, at Sterling Presbyterian Manor, Sterling.  She was born May 31, 1921, at El Dorado, the daughter of Charles O. and Ruthetta Overholser Dyke. A longtime resident of Sterling, she was a homemaker.  She belonged to the United Presbyterian Church, Sterling.

On June 19, 1943, she married John R. Oden at Lyons. He died Jan. 26, 1997. survivors include four sons, Ralph and Michael, both of Hutchinson, Donald, Alden and Ronald, Sterling; a daughter Allene Urich, Hutchinson; a brother, LeLand Dyke, Indianapolis, Ind.; two sisters, Elsie Cantwell, Wichita, and Alice Rifenburg, Springfield, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by six brothers; two sisters; and a great-grandson. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Sillin Funeral Home, Sterling, with the Rev. Glen Holman and Pastor Kendal Connor, presiding. Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Burial will be in Sterling Community Cemetery, Sterling, KS.
