Luther Austin Yeager McMurphy- 12/12/1883  (1882 on death certificate)He was born in Valley Township, Sterling, Rice Co., Kansas. After his mother died he was given to the McMurphy family. He went to see his brother Charley along with their sister Jessie after Charley was married.    Luther drank and his wife didn’t care.  She left him alone about it. When his father left Charley’s home, he went to Luther’s for awhile.  His father had been at Luther’s when he died.  Luther died 3/9/1965 in Sterling, Kansas and is buried at Sterling Cemetery from Myocardial infraction and the flu.  He was a Methodist.  He served on the Sterling R. E. A. Board since 1940, Maple School Board for 10 years, Woodman Of The World.  He was a farmer. He was not legally adopted, but went by last name of McMurphy.  His foster parents’ names were Ruth and Alonzo Leroy McMurphy since he was 4 years of age and his SSN was 511-12-1278  He married Verna Bennett  on 4/2/1902.  She died 5/2/1906.
