Mary E Lane was born April 1862 in Illinois to George Johnson Lane and Mayr Elizabeth McGraw.  She married Edmund B Wells on September 14, 1880, at the United Methodist Church in Trivoli, Illinois.

In 1900 Ed and Mary moved to Pioneer, Rice County, Kansas.  Mary died in Chase, KS in 1911 and was buried in the Sterling Community Cemetery
