STERLING, Kan. — Jack R. Stubbs, 84, died Saturday, Feb. 12 in Sterling, Kan. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 19 at Sterling Evangelical Bible Church with Rim Elsner officiating. Burial will be at Sterling Community Cemetery with full military honors.
He was born Aug. 29, 1920 to Percy and Ethel Stubbs in Sterling and graduated from Sterling High School in 1938. He graduated from Sterling College in 1942 and was a retired farmer and dairyman. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and married Frances Boyce Dec. 10, 1941 in Sterling. He was a member of Sterling Evangelical Bible Church, former president of the school board, and served on the Walnut Township election board.
He was preceded in death by his wife and a brother.
He is survived by two sons, James Stubbs of Anchorage, Alaska and Philip Stubs of Sterling; two daughters, Alicia Gardner of Midland and Linda Hoffman of Lawrence, Kan.; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren.
