Chalky Slyter was born on April 26, 1811, in Grand Isle, Vermont, his father, Jakob, was 24 and his mother, Elizabeth, was 20. He married Mary Ann Poff on May 28, 1841, in Jay, Indiana. They had 12 children in 19 years. He died on October 12, 1890, in Rice, Kansas, having lived a long life of 79 years, and was buried in Sterling, Kansas.

Chalkly Slyter, son of Jacob and Elizabeth (Hoag) Slyter and husband of Mary Ann Poff Slyter. Father of 12 Children.
